The important thing to remember about networking is that it is a two way experience. That extends not only from your messages to each other, but also the sharing of knowledge, information or contacts. So how do we go about this? Firstly, complete as much on the profile as possible.
Secondly, get involved in the various aspects of the site. This could include replying to email or comments, posting blogs on areas of interest to you, posting constructive comments on other people blogs, maintaining effective interaction on the forums and most important – communicate. Blogging is a way of collecting links to webpages and sharing thoughts and ideas with people online. Blogs (or Weblogs) are basically online journals or diaries which are great for sharing information and ideas. Blogger.com says: "A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A political soapbox. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links. Your own private thoughts. Memos to the world." They're also really easy to make, so you can have one even if you aren't very technical. Anything can be posted instantly to a blog.
Why Blog? How many times have you sent e-mails to your colleagues’ with the address of a particularly interesting web page, together with your own thoughts and remarks. In effect, that is blogging. Communicating around an idea or thought process. An effective blogger, perhaps an expert in a particular field, will post regular updates (2/3 times per week) on their chosen discussion. With members interacting, this becomes a topic of discussion, and can result in a person gaining accreditation for their knowledge on a subject. With the right links in place, many readers looking for your expertise can now find a way to get a hold of you. That’s interaction at its best.
